Winter Training

Many want to enjoy winter in the wilderness, but do not know the gear, equipment and helpful knowledge needed to do so. This is a free community training event for all ages at the PWI Headquarters (955 N 7th Ave, Bozeman, MT 59715). The goal is for each attendee to be equipped for situations they may encounter in the winter in the front and backcountry. It is also an introduction to Petra Wilderness trip offerings.

Day Treks

Need a break from work or studying? Come join us for a snowshoeing trek, followed by dinner back at home base. Snowshoes, transportation, and food for the day are provided in these day trips. Reminder to fill out your one time 2026 PWI Membership Application before applying for a day trek.

Winter Camping

Just outside Bozeman up Hyalite Canyon provides some of the greatest places for overnight winter camping in the country.
